On Saturday, 7 November 2020, in the morning at 10:53, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 9.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C4 and a Volvo S60. Three people were injured — the 37-year-old driver of the Citroen (severely injured, hospitalized), the 24-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized) and a 12-year-old passenger of the Citroen (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Citroen (14 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
