On Monday, 23 November 2020, in the afternoon at 16:12, in Kretingos district municipality, on J. Jablonskio street near No. 54, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Touran, a bicycle, a Mazda 3 and a Fiat. One person died — a 72-year-old cyclist. One person was injured — a 21-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (15 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.33‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
