On Sunday, 13 December 2020, at night at 0:49, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, on the Vinčai–Pilviškiai–Vilkaviškis national road (kilometre 23.75), a Volvo V70 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volvo (7 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.59‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
