On Friday, 18 December 2020, at night at 23:55, in Anykščių district municipality, Biržinės village, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 110), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volvo V60, a Rydwan and a Peugeot Boxer. Two people were injured — a 48-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized) and a 15-year-old passenger of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Volvo (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
