On Friday, 8 January 2021, in the afternoon at 16:10, in Kėdainių district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 34.68), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo FH registered in Latvia, a Schmitz Cargobull SKO24 registered in Latvia, a DAF VH 400 registered in Estonia and a Schmitz Cargobull S.CS24-13.62 registered in Estonia. One person was injured — the 55-year-old driver of the DAF (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volvo (17 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
