On Friday, 8 January 2021, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 136.38), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo EW160C and an Audi A6. Two people were injured — the 30-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient) and a 34-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Volvo (6 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
