On Saturday, 23 January 2021, at night at 23:20, in Kauno district municipality, Ražiškių village, on the Kauno HE–Garliava national road (kilometre 7.97), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz E220, a Toyota Prius and an Audi A8. Three people died — the 23-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (was not wearing a seatbelt), the 33-year-old driver of the Toyota and a 44-year-old passenger of the Toyota. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (3 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.35‰ blood alcohol). A 44-year-old passenger of the Toyota was drunk (3.02‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
