On Wednesday, 27 January 2021, in the evening at 22:31, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Peršėkininkai–Buckūnai regional road (kilometre 1), a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
