On Friday, 5 March 2021, in the evening at around 22:00, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 50), a collision with barriers occurred. The collision involved a BMW BMW5/1 and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. She had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
