On Thursday, 15 April 2021, in the morning at around 5:00, in Prienų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 100.70), a Volvo S40 registered in Ukraine ran off the road. One person was injured — a 52-year-old passenger of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Volvo (18 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
