On Monday, 30 August 2021, in the evening at 22:20, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 22), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Land Cruiser, a KIA Motors Sportage and a DAF FA 95XF.380. One person died — a 62-year-old passenger of the Toyota. Three people were injured — the 66-year-old driver of the Toyota (hospitalized), the 56-year-old driver of the KIA Motors (treated as an outpatient) and a 53-year-old passenger of the KIA Motors (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 66-year-old driver of the Toyota (27 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
