On Monday, 17 July 2023, in the evening at 17:15, in Panevėžio district municipality, Rimaisų village, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 20.20), a Volvo registered in Estonia ran off the road. One person was injured — a 46-year-old passenger of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Volvo (27 years of driving experience), who fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
