On Saturday, 4 December 2021, in the morning at 10:43, in Širvintų district municipality, on I. Šeiniaus street near No. 10, a Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (29 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
