On Tuesday, 27 September 2022, in the evening at 17:05, in Širvintų district municipality, on I. Šeiniaus street near No. 9, at the junction with J. Janonio street, a Subaru Outback hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the Subaru (34 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
