On Saturday, 1 January 2022, in the afternoon at 14:12, in Trakų district municipality, on Trakų street near No. 71, a Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 84-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (2.48‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
