On Sunday, 3 April 2022, in the afternoon at 15:20, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 200), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Insignia Sports Tourer SW, a Peugeot 307 and an Audi A6. Three people were injured — the 51-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient), a 47-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (hospitalized) and a 4-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Opel (31 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.39‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
