On Sunday, 29 May 2022, in the afternoon at 14:35, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 44.35), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-5 and a Volkswagen CC. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Saab, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. A 22-year-old passenger of the Saab was drunk (2.55‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet.
