On Tuesday, 5 July 2022, in the evening at 17:18, in Anykščių district municipality, Svėdasų town, on J. Tumo-Vaižganto street near No. 67, a motorcycle hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 76-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of a motorcycle, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
