On Thursday, 14 July 2022, in the evening at 20:40, in Anykščių district municipality, Svėdasų town, on J. Tumo-Vaižganto street, at the junction with Vilniaus street, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Nissan Patrol and a Volkswagen Phaeton registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 73-year-old driver of the Nissan (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.89‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
