On Friday, 25 November 2022, in the evening at 19:36, in Panevėžio district municipality, Naujamiesčio town, on S. Nėries street, at the junction with Dariaus ir Girėno street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a car and an Audi A6 Avant. Two people were injured — a 27-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient) and the 50-year-old driver of the Audi (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of a car (14 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.82‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
