On Monday, 28 November 2022, in the morning at 8:48, in Kauno district municipality, Babtų village, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 85.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Skoda Superb, a Mercedes-Benz, a Niewiadow, a Scania and a Koegel S24BP. One person died — the 62-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz. Three people were injured — the 22-year-old driver of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient), a 27-year-old passenger of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient) and the 41-year-old driver of the Scania (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Skoda (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
