On Sunday, 4 December 2022, in the afternoon at 11:56, in Varėnos district municipality, Naujųjų Valkininkų village, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 61.45), a collision occurred. The collision involved a Subaru and an Audi A6, S6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Subaru, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
