On Sunday, 15 January 2023, in the evening at 19:58, in Rokiškio district municipality, on Rokiškio street near No. 6, a BMW 320 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 77-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, it was overcast, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
