On Wednesday, 25 January 2023, in the morning at 7:28, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 39.70), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Iveco, a Renault Premium, a BMW 5ER Reihe, a Volkswagen Passat and a Volvo. Two people were injured — the 23-year-old driver of the Iveco (treated as an outpatient) and the 60-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Iveco (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, there was fog, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
