On Saturday, 8 June 2024, in the morning at 5:13, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 48.85), an Audi A4 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.65‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
