On Sunday, 30 April 2023, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Gruzdžiai–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 24.41), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5 3.0D and a Dodge Durango. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
