On Friday, 9 June 2023, in the afternoon at 11:30, in Rokiškio district municipality, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 23.90), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz ML 320 CDI 4MATIC and a car. Five people were injured — the 38-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), the 46-year-old driver of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 54-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 70-year-old passenger of a car (hospitalized) and a 32-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (17 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
