On Sunday, 18 June 2023, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 7), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C4 and a Ford. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Citroen, who violated overtaking rules. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
