On Sunday, 16 July 2023, in the evening at 20:55, in Utenos district municipality, Vaikutėnų village, on Zarasų street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 5ER Reihe and a Seat Cordoba Vario. Four people were injured — a 14-year-old passenger of the Seat (hospitalized), a 16-year-old passenger of the Seat (hospitalized), the 56-year-old driver of the Seat (hospitalized) and a 16-year-old passenger of the Seat (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the BMW (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.47‰ blood alcohol).
