On Monday, 21 August 2023, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, Meškuičių town, on Šiaulių street, at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus street, a traffic accident occurred. The accident involved a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (3.25‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
