On Friday, 29 September 2023, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Lazdijų district municipality, Seiliūnų village, on Paplentės street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Space Star, a Mercedes-Benz and a Schmitz. Two people died — the 81-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi and a 77-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (27 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
