On Sunday, 17 December 2023, in the evening at around 20:00, in Šiauliai, on Aušros al., at the junction with Tilžės street, a BMW hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
