On Friday, 29 December 2023, in the evening at around 18:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Klaipėda–Liepoja (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta d. pusė) main road (kilometre 8), a BMW hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 61-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by a 61-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
