On Thursday, 4 January 2024, in the afternoon at 15:15, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys national road, a Scania registered in Latvia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Scania (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
