On Saturday, 13 January 2024, in the afternoon at 13:40, in Alytaus district municipality, Daugų village, on Alytaus street, at the junction with Daugų street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Ford Transit FT 100 registered in Anguilla and a BMW. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (1.93‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered.
