On Tuesday, 23 January 2024, in the evening at 17:39, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Klaipėda–Liepoja (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 1), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Schmitz SCS24/L 13.62 E P registered in Latvia, a Scania registered in Latvia and a Volvo XC90. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Schmitz, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.70‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
