On Monday, 16 September 2024, in the afternoon at 13:35, in Plungės district municipality, on V. Mačernio street near No. 4, a Buick hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 95-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Buick (25 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
