On Friday, 27 September 2024, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Šiauliai, on Sodo street, at the junction with Marijampolės street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Renault Megane Scenic and a Peugeot. One person was injured — the 33-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 70-year-old driver of the Renault (29 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
