On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, in the morning at around 7:00, in Kauno district municipality, Virbališkių village, on Nemuno street near No. 1, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Volvo V60 and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 60-year-old passenger of the Volvo (hospitalized) and the 46-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient, had no driving licence). The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the Volvo (20 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
