On Thursday, 31 October 2024, in the evening at 22:43, in Panevėžys, on Nemuno street, at the junction with Klaipėdos street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Renault Master and a Toyota Prius. Three people were injured — the 38-year-old driver of the Renault (hospitalized), a 22-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 57-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Renault (20 years of driving experience), who failed to obey traffic-control signals. Both drivers were sober. The 22-year-old driver of the Toyota had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
