On Wednesday, 5 March 2014, at night at 23:30, in Vilnius, on P. Žadeikos street, at the junction with Fabijoniškių street, a Ford Mondeo hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 22-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Ford (11 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
