On Sunday, 24 August 2014, at night at 2:35, in Kaunas, on S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno street, at the junction with V. Čepinskio street, a Volvo S60 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volvo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.74‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
