On Tuesday, 2 September 2014, in the evening at 20:10, in Telšių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 55.40), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a NEW Holland. One person was injured — a 38-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (6 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
