On Monday, 26 August 2019, in the evening at 22:31, in Telšių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 55.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Subaru Impreza registered in Great Britain and a Toyota Yaris. Three people were injured — a 6-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 6-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and a 8-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Subaru (4 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
