On Wednesday, 24 September 2014, in the evening at around 22:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 104), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Corolla Verso and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Toyota (a citizen of Latvia) (21 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
