On Monday, 6 July 2015, at night at 0:23, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 48), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and an Opel Astra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (12 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.66‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
