On Thursday, 12 January 2023, in the afternoon at 14:17, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 47), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz 311 CDI and a truck. Five people were injured — a 19-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 1-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt, was not in a child seat), a 36-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 49-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 21-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (17 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, there was freezing rain, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
