On Friday, 4 September 2015, in the afternoon at 16:30, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 102.09), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 D and a Nissan X-Trail. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (9 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (1.84‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was overcast, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
