On Sunday, 24 January 2016, in the evening at 21:45, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 15), a Volkswagen Passat registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
