On Wednesday, 27 January 2016, in the morning at 9:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Renault Megane Scenic and a Volkswagen Caravelle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 69-year-old driver of the Renault (42 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.96‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene.
